I just turned 62

Enter three sources of income
Social Security
Investments
Part time work as a substitute teacher

I got a bill from my apartment complex from hades that I need to pay them an additional 48$ and change that they refuse to work with me to pull up any documentation to prove this and that I cannot pull back into a year and a half to argue no from the statements that began two months after the LAST management company was here.

The new one will not anti up any documentation that says once my lease renewed I paid my water, trash, pest control at the first on the month.

OK did that. Now they say I must pay to put them up to date. NO arrears. I showed them that I had paid from the beginning. Even taking this paid in full on the first of the month water plus bill on the day my new lease came aboard.

Lord, I hate to be swindled,

I paid,

Why, I saw the look in his eye when I asked for the company's records of paid, rent, dog, trash, pet rent, maintenance of pests (I should include him and the horse of this complex to ride in on)

He said ( I swear.....he did...they don't keep records like that.

SAY WHAT! Have you spoken to the IRS lately?

Yeah

I took the hit now when my lease is up....I am gone.

It has been one long battle living here...I did all the research, walked the property, talked to long time people living here for 5-10 plus years and one month and a half to the day the property was sold to a soulless corp. And that is when the services declined, the price went up, revolving door on any kind of customer service.

I get it. I do. But you have no spread sheet that tells you who paid what and if they did. Really?

Yeah I took the hit. Fifty bucks. Just another place to go now.

I will find my way.

As I keep saying from Maya Angelou

When someone shows you what they really are.....believe them the first time.

Bloody hell.

^^^^^^^ Maybe a lawyer can help you?? Not so sure I would "just take it."

But that's me.

Fifty bucks? I'd probably just pay it, be monstrously pissed off about it, and look around for another place to live. At the new place, keep scrupulous records of everything they say to you and you say to them, and get receipts or other documentation of all payments you make.

So who's going to spend a couple grand on a lawyer to save $50?

You might want to see if your bank has a bill pay system or use a program such as Mint to track your expenses. This would make it easier for you to find prior payments and then track down proof of payment.

Spoken by a guy who felt that he had to create a thread in the Retirement forum to announce to the world that his wife bought him a clock.

Mrs5150 bought me a clock

And also created a thread in the Retirement Forum wondering whether twiddling one's thumbs was a lost art.

Speaking of lost arts

Sorry about the 48 dollars, and best wishes on your finding a new home where you are happy.
