I was in 8th grade in Long Island NY. I remember being told that JFK had been shot. And I remember a school aide speculating that he was dead. Not sure if we got sent home early, but Of course I remember Ruby getting shot on TV. We watched it all weekend.
I loved JFK, Jackie and the whole family. I think myself and many others my age were very deeply scarred by this, and by the other assasinations.

I remember we didn't get sent home early, but most of the students attending the school (a private school) came from some distance away and depended on buses to get home. I think at the time I had just gotten my license and was driving myself, my sister and brother who also attended the school (we lived about 12 miles away), but they had us all wait till regular dismissal time to leave. I think we all returned to our homerooms for the hour and some, to reflect, talk about the event, till dismissal time.
Come to think of it, September 11, 2001 is another date on which most of us can remember where we were and what we were doing at the times of the horrific events that occurred that morning. My daughter was a senior in high school, and I recall her trying to call me at work, but the message she left showed her cell phone off by one number(she was rattled), though I knew it was her. IIRC, her school didn't dismiss the students early, either. I think my daughter said they either had an assembly, or returned to their homerooms till dismissal time. For both the students in my high school, and in my daughter's school, which was a magnet public school with students who lived some distance away and depended on school buses (tightly scheduled to serve various public schools in the county) would have had a hard time getting home early.

I was at work in the office of 3M Co. (Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co) in the Bristol PA location. I sort of laughed because we were always hearing rumors that someone-or-other celebrity was dead. No one there seemed to be sure so I called my Mother who said she didn't know anything about it, but turned on her TV during our call and said "I'm sorry to tell you but this isn't a rumor." She burst into tears and hung up.
The first news I got was when I was crossing Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs. A French professor was running toward the student union, shouting out the bad news.
2nd Grade in a Chicago catholic school. We were practicing for our 1st Communion that was on Thanksgiving. One of the nuns told us. My younger brother was at home watching Bozo's Circus when they cut in. My mom was resting on the couch and always remembered seeing it.
I was in either 1st or 2nd grade. There was a fire drill, and we all marched out to the blacktop, where the principal announced it over a PA system. We were let go for the rest of the day. I remember saying to my teacher at the time, "Aren't we supposed to have a spelling test today?" and she replied she didn't feel like it.
