I am now eating a starch-based, whole food, plant based diet, and I also avoid oil. I don't eat anything that comes from an animal, or fish, etc. My main reason for doing so, was to improve my cholesterol and blood pressure naturally, so I could go off of statins, mainly, because of the side effects. I had no idea they were also affecting my mind so much. I also have a lot more energy. I just feel so much better and my mind is so much clearer, it's remarkable.

For what it's worth.
Then there is the whole load of information on the Cholesterol Myth, books written too. Our brains and body need good oils. My doctor started to check my homocysteine levels a few years ago and they were elevated and so I've been working with supplements to get them normal range. Not the cholesterol fear....

Just thinking too, our medical industry keeps people in cholesterol fear and maybe it's why we are hearing so much about dementia as people's brains are getting dried out with statins to reduce cholesterol...our brains need cholesterol. Our bodies do. So much MAYBE unnecessary fear for the sake of drugs. Dr. Mary Newport tells her story about her husband's dementia and her coconut oil treatments for him. You can look for that info.

That's what I was, going to suggest to the OP.

With a smart phone and a remote control app, the OP Could use the "remote" to dial anyone. Lol it also has a calculator app, so OP Could balance the check book witha smart phone too. It also has a flashlight app, a measuring app, and a UPC and the square digital info decoders. A smart phone can do a lot thesedays.

I keep my keys attached to my "man purse", official called "murse" or simply "bag", so I DON'T lose them! I use a dog leash spring closing hook. Otherwise I'd never find them. The nurse carries every thing I need to carry and then some, including my smart phone.

I don't do such things without being bewildered as,to why.

I hate to think it's aging, lol.

A couple times now I've tried to dial a number on my iPhone or iPad screen, then realized it was actually the unlock screen.

A few days ago I put the frozen dinner packaging in the microwave and the frozen dinner itself on top of the microwave, then started it and wandered off. I didn't discover my error until the dinger dinged and I went back to cooked box and frozen dinner.

Fortunately, nothing had happened in 3 minutes except the microwave got really hot.

But when I saw that I had done that it definitely scared me.

How is the diet going for you?
I stopped the statins a few months ago also. It was like I woke up from a long fuzzy sleep. Much more inclined to get up to do something now. And when I wake up in the morning it no longer takes me 3 hours to feel fully awake.

I have an appointment with a Lipid Specialist next month. Never knew that was a specialty but we will see what he has to say about my cholesterol. It does scare me to have high cholesterol because my mother always had high cholesterol, took statins, ate minimal amounts of fats, and still had several strokes when she got to her 80s.

I wish I could do the plant based diet (took a course once) but most of the things they tell you to eat are things that I just don't like the taste of.

I've done the opposite. I'll blame my ever loving husband, though. He tends to answer the land line, take the phone (when it's not a spam call) over to the sofa where he's playing couch potato binge watching TV, and leaves the phone on the couch along with the various remotes. I come along later, sit down to watch something, and pick up the phone to channel or channel guide search. I've wondered why the TV doesn't do anything, and that remote makes that funny little buzzing noise.

I tried ginko-biloba a couple times when my mother swore it helped her memory (she's great at placebo effects, good for her!), but it made me edgy and raised my blood pressure, so not worth the side effects even if it did work.

But forgetful but still curious minds want to know, did your phone survive that two day stay in the freezer?
