There is a hilarious site that shows what missteps autocorrect has made, it'll make you roar with laughter. Its not a competing site. So i think i can name it. Its Damnyouautocorrect.com.
I do have a fat finger problem with my little smart phone keyboard, but im not talking about mistakes in typing, im talking you type where you typed " blue" and autocorrect changed it to "blab", for instance.
I once was chatting with someone and we were discussing an item for sale.
I said "its too expensive for me, my PENSION doesnt go that far...."
Autocorrect turned it into "... my PENIS doesnt go that far..."!!!!
I was absolutely mortified when i saw that pop up after i had sent it, as it wasnt appropriate (OBVIOUSLY), then i had a good hearty laugh at that ( with no commentary on my actual anatomy).
I still laugh about it to this day.
Once i found the site above, I've been referring to it as "Damnyouautocorrect", NOT just autocorrect.
So what has autocorrect accidentally changed you intended words, phrases or meanings into?
Why "seniors"? Everybody has problems with autocorrect. You make it sound like anyone over 60 is a technical dinosaur or something.
No , not at all quite the opposite.
I just want to know what seasoned adults have experenced with autocorrect that changed the full meaning of their intended message.
That alone would mean they are tech savvy to be using the miracles of modern tech.
Although i was retired at 40 due to medical , my post and thence the autocorrect would not have neen possible if i had not referred to my SSDI as my "pension", which is in a way what it is.
When I was working I had a spell check program that always changed "coworkers" to "cowpokes". These days I have mostly disabled the spell check programs, especially on my smaller tablet. I do have a grammar checker that seems to do a good job and it will catch some spelling errors.
I wish I could remember one text that I was writing to my adult kids. I looked at it before sending and it was full of words I would NEVER use in a text, or in speaking face to face, to my kids or anyone else. I was shocked! I remember thinking my kids would get a laugh out of it if I sent it, but I edited before sending.
Years ago, before Dick's Sporting Goods got control of dicks.com, I wanted to buy something and went to dicks.com. Let's just say they weren't selling sporting goods! My kids still think that's hilarious.
So, I'm sending a verbal message to someone, most likely a realtor, and mentioned the client just wanted to stay put and be still (chill) or something like that.
It came out as "wanted to be killed"
Realtor called me in a panic.
I never used that again and now I have an IPhone.
