Inspired by a quote from another post "You may well fall over dead at 80 while "working" at something you've chosen to work at; I don't see any advantage to expiring in a rocking chair."
These days I can see someone dropping dead in a Zumba class or playing Pickleball. But in a rocking chair? I don't think I've even sat in one for a few decades, LOL.
We bought a humongous one at a thrift shop when our first child was born. Later got rid of the huge thing, but then I succumbed again at an antique market a couple of decades ago and bought a lovely little Victorian rocker and my mother did needlepoint for a chair seat and back for it. It's beautiful but I cringe when someone "big" decides to sit in it. Everyone loves it because it's so comfy.

We have one, and the grandkids like to sit in it. My wife and I prefer our favorite spots on the couch, but I would prefer to expire on a hike in the woods.
I bought a large rocking chair about 25 years ago. The chair was made by an Amish guy and it is a very unique design with walnut seat and vine arms. About a year ago, I returned to the area where I bought the chair and wanted to go to the same guy and see his latest work.
Drove around from memory and was on the same road but could not find the home/store. I stopped at a house and asked where the place was located. Turns out he moved away years ago.
I have kept the rocker inside all the time and still looks like new.
Not an old fashioned rocking chair, but I have a swivel rocker recliner chair that is very comfortable.
