Here is the part that affects most of us. PartB premium and deductible are going down. Never thought I would see that happen.

Quote:
Medicare Part B Premium and Deductible

Medicare Part B covers physician services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, durable medical equipment, and certain other medical and health services not covered by Medicare Part A.

Each year the Medicare Part B premium, deductible, and coinsurance rates are determined according to the Social Security Act. The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B enrollees will be $164.90 for 2023, a decrease of $5.20 from $170.10 in 2022. The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries is $226 in 2023, a decrease of $7 from the annual deductible of $233 in 2022.

The small decrease is because the new Alzheimer’s drug didn’t work. That’s why they originally increased part B.

That is going to eliminate about 80% of the complaints when the Social Security COLA is announced next month because the very first thing most people (who aren't very good at math) do is complain that the increase in their Medicare premium ate up their COLA.

The other 20% of the complaints are usually from the conspiracy theorists (and you know who you are) who apparently believe that the 1000s of people who are involved in acquiring inflation data from all over the country are all in on the governmental conspiracy to report inaccurate CPI data. And the MSM are in on it, too, according to them. And they know this because in their little corner of the world their personal costs have gone up higher than the reported number.

Ergo, the inflation numbers are a lie!!!

Wish Part B was going down as much as it went up, lol. But beggars can't be choosey.

The Part B premium has historically been announced in November. Wonder why
it's different this year?

Thanks for quoting the article.

IMO, it should have gone down more than that because IIRC, last year they raised us about $40 due to that Alzheimers drug they changed their mind about. I just googled, it was $148.50 in 2021. I don't understand why they're not putting it closer to the $155 mark.

I'll be surprised if there won't be people screaming about what I just said. How can they justify keeping it this high?

I don't know why it wasn't decreased more. Just guessing there may have been an unusual amount of payouts this past year due to so many elders being treated for COVID. That would have put an unusual drain on the system.

We are still paying way less than working age people.

I've always maintained the 2023 Part B premium would remain unchanged -- -ie., not go up- or down. Nice there's a $5 reduction. Realistically the more reasonable expectation, given Covid and inflation, would have been no change - and to be happy about it.
