I know lots of 30 somethings that golf. Otherwise hiking, surfing, and outdoor activities are big. Many are having kids and doing home renovations so not a lot of time.

Our millennial kids are busy raising their own children so they don't have time for a lot of hobbies. Many are coaches or volunteers for the kids' sporting programs or in the classroom. The ones that live out west do go to Vegas a few times a year.

And many seem to like to take family trips to resorts these days like Dominican Republic.

My younger relatives in their 40s and 30s still like camping, but they've upped the ante with 4-wheel ATVs and rock crawlers, toys that were always WAY out of our budget. The older generation often comes along and supplies the boat to drag everyone around the lake. Good intergenerational stuff there.

Golf is booming in many places with heavy competition for tee times and golfers of all ages. My golf course here in our community has many, many young people on the course. Sometimes it's residents, sometimes their families, or just random locals. A Top Golf has opened near us and it's a challenge to get a time slot there. It's really fun, sort of like a cross between a driving range and a bowling alley. You get up to 6 people together and rent a "lane" for 2 hours. A computer scores everyone's drives on a monitor, and you can order drinks and food like burgers and fries and eat them at a bartop table in your lane. It's big with people of all ages.

Casinos are popular everywhere I've ever lived with people of all ages. I usually donate a hundred or so to the management, but occasionally I come away a winner. Often enough to keep me coming back a few times a year.

I love cruising, and I purposely go on longer cruises, especially during the school year if possible, to avoid families with lots of young kids. Apparently though cruising is still really popular, and there are cruise lines and cruises for just about every budget as they are PACKING those jumbo size 5000 passenger ships to the brim. They've added all kinds of amusements to appeal to the younger set like waterslides, go-karts, zip-lines, laser tag, etc. We went on a 10-day Caribbean cruise with about 3000 passengers, and we saw about 20 people use the water slide. Few young people were onboard because it was 3 weeks after Spring break and they'd all gone back to school or work. So you can choose your experience, cruise with younger set, or almost exclusively over 40.

Those of you with Millennial kids---do they enjoy these pastimes? Or are they too old-fashioned for them? For one thing, they are all pretty expensive. No one in my extended family does any of these---the younger ones.

Then there's tennis, rock-mineral collections, dinner parties, cards....what else is dying off? Or am I wrong
No, my Millennial kids would never go on a cruise or to a casino or play golf. Travel - yes, independent travel plans in foreign countries off the beaten path.

We have lots of golf courses in Virginia for the Boomers. Also for the transplanted Midwesterners who think golf is still required in business along with the three martini lunches (or three cokes lunches for Mormons).

Dinner parties are still HUGE! After work drinks at dive bars is huge! Millennials still have a thing for posting photos of food/drinks online. If an activity has food to post - it's good!

As a boomer, I thought I would hate cards - but I'm big into card games now.

We are a family of big readers so everyone reads books.

Classical music - concerts, operas, etc. are huge! But that may just be us.

I know someone mentioned casinos earlier on this thread. I’m in my late 30s and I like going to casinos and it seems like the ones local to me appeal to all ages over 21, not just old people. Also, there are a ton of YouTube channels dedicated to slot machines and casino games, and most of those are run by non-Boomers.

I sew and embroider; the popularity of both dropped sharply after the '70s, but are enjoying a Renaissance as far as I can tell. But younger folks are doing it their own way.

For instance, embroidery used to be all about fine stitching and tidy backs. Now it seems to be anything goes. Use all six strands of floss! Embroider just the outlines of a printed picture! Heck, embroider a vintage postcard!

There seems to be more interest in pattern drafting for sewing (instead of just buying patterns). Makes sense, patterns are $15-$20+ each now, and often have just a single garment. Older patterns sometimes included multiple garments, like pants, blouse and skirt, with variations on each, so it was like getting 8 or 9 patterns in one.

My kinda guy!

I enjoy ocean fishing, anywhere from bottom fishing near shore to chasing big fish in the open ocean. I also enjoy backyard gardening but now I'm limited to patio container gardening in my new place. I enjoy watching "life" grows. I bought a Satsuma 2 months ago and it just started growing new leaves. I bought basil from the market and planted them as cuttings and they're blossoming as we speak. It's exciting watching life grows.

DH and I did not play golf, his sons and their friends do. Meanwhile a large course near us closed and is now vacant land.

Having been involved in quilting for a long time, I think it is as big as ever.

Tennis died off when the big gym owners realized that people were playing for free at local parks, so they pushed racketball instead, forcing you to join a gym for $50 or $100/month.

Around here bass fishing is king. We have several professional bass tournaments in our area, some right on our lake which is about a half mile from my house. Lots of lakes and rivers here, so kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and even dragon boat racing are popular with all ages. Our community has a dragon boat team, and they are sort of local favorites as they are 40 years older than most of the other teams, yet are competitive and often place in the races. It's funny to see our silver-tops on the winners stand with the young bucks. Boating in general is huge here, any kind of boating. Raft-ups, where several boats tie up together in the middle of the lake and people swim, picnic on their pontoons, and do some day drinking while floating around are big summer activities.
