My spouse is considering some offer from providence ,RI. This is not yet finalized. this is one option he find interesting. so we want to check if we can fit it
we are family of 4 (2 kids 8,2 years)so schools are important thing to consider the move.
so schools and activities for kids are our first and highest priority. please suggest which area would be good.
we are south asians (from india),so how is the indian population there?
cost of living: we currently pay around 1k for a 3bed/2 .5 bath appt here, how will be there
You'll find some 3 br/1.5 bath for $2K, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - it's in ChadBrown. Moving out of Providence, you might find some two family homes with 3 br in that price range, but I seriously doubt you'll find 2 full baths and definitely not for that price. so long as you are willing to deal with only 1 bath, you'll find some places on the 2nd floor in decent areas. I suggest you look in the newspaper or online. Just do a search for providence rentals. You can search on www.providencerent.com
Well, then you'll be looking outside Providence or at private schools.
Anywhere near the universities is a mix of cultures, so that means Providence for RISD, Brown, PC, RIC, RW; South Kingstown for URI or the east bay, Aquidneck island.
If you're looking for good public schools, there are several threads on here which include links to school rankings by town.
There are several Indian restaurants on the East Side, there is Not Just Snacks, and their spice store across the street. There are definitely Indian people in Providence and RI, this isn't New Hampshire, but no neighborhood. I had lunch in Wickford the other day, and the manager was Indian.
