I saw that the annual travel and leisure results are in again. Here's the link to the Providence results. PVD may be a mid-sized city but we truly outshine a lot of the big cities out there!
I've said it many times before but i find Providence a great great great place to live. I know there are some that do not share my opinion but the state has so much to offer and i have loved everyday that i've lived in here over the past 15 years.
Don't know about the pizza (although I believe we've a whole thread on it) but when you click on fine dining we're #2 behind San Francisco- that's a mighty high rating!
Yum! I mentioned this to Rnrboy in a DM, but I think people in Rhode Island EXPECT that whatever food they are being served is excellent. No excuses.
My favorite pizza joint used to be Nicks on 76th and B'Way. Used to eat the pizza in the traffic island park when I got off work at ABC News around 1am. Rats would scurry under my feet and tussle in the garbage can nearby for scraps of food, but it didn't much bother me.
*Hijack alert* I was anticipating missing the RI pizza when I moved to NV, but we just got Pizza Rock. If you folks are ever out here in Las Vegas, it is, hands down, the best pizza I've ever had. The pizzaiolo is the 11-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani. If I was here on vacation and had this pizza, I would immediately book a return trip just to have it again.
BUT - why in RI is it impossible to find just a classic NYC-NJ pie. I just want to fold my damn pizza! Closest I've found is Fellini's (sp), but just not the same.
I think it's the water.
