Here is a link for those who may want to refresh their memories, or are interested in learning more about the credit union crisis in Rhode Island that gravely hurt half of the population of RI on January 1, 1991.

Start here by date:

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_multi=PJRI|&p_product=PJRI&p_theme=gate house&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&s_dispstring=r isdic%20credit%20union%20crisis%20AND%20date(all)& p_field_advanced-0=&p_text_advanced-0=(risdic%20credit%20union%20crisis)&xcal_numdocs= 20&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date&xcal_useweights= no

If this doesn't open, simply search the ProJo archives for RI Credit Union crisis 1991. Also search for "Joe Mollicone".

Exactly.

I don't think the Journal archives are even accessible to non-subscribers, are they?

Very strange. Why would anyone post this now?

It's an important part of the state's history, at least to those of us who don't seek to bury the past. It still effects RI today.

The only way it affects Rhode Island today is there is no more RISDIC and Credit Union deposits are federally insured.

They aren't even accessible to newspaper subscribers. You need an archive subscription (ranging from $2.95 per article to $995 for one year, 500 article limit).

Au contraire; more misleading information ^^^.

ProJo links are accessible by everyone with the ability to do even minimum research. The archives are up to date accurate public information; freedom of the press; historical articles.

Kindly refrain from derailing the thread.

When I go to your link it requires me to register, and wants to charge me per article... at the rate range mp775 indicates. Seems like mp775 is right.

If you have a back door way in, let us know. My guess is that you didn't actually click on any of the links resulting from your search.
