Over the weekend there was a brutal murder at 123 Jewett Street in the Smith Hill neighborhood in Providence. This was not a shooting or stabbing...but rather brute force trauma. Investigators have described it as a gruesome scene, and it's unclear at this point if this was a random act of violence or if the victim was targeted. The victim is from Pakistan and had only been living there for about a month.
It was the 8th homicide in Providence in 2019. There is now a person of interest in custody.
And word on a motive yet? Sounds totally senseless and cold blooded, and very out of sync with local crime patterns.
No idea if this information is accurate, but there's a person named Danielle Sparadeo who is posting on Facebook and is claiming to be the victim's sister.
According to this person, the killer attempted to break into the victim's house. It sounds like the victim caught the killer in the act...and then let the killer walk out the front door. Apparently, the victim took a picture of the killer. And I guess that's how the police caught the killer? But evidently the killer returned to the house hours later and decapitated the victim.
This story seems a bit far fetched to me, but who knows...
Major David Lapatin said Ingram broke into the victim’s apartment at 123 Jewett Street through a window, apparently with the intention of staying there.
The victim and suspect had a “conversation,” Lapatin said, that led to the killing. He declined to comment further on how Ingram allegedly killed him or how police were able to track down the suspect.
The suspect's mother was briefly interviewed on the news, and she said her son was in the National Guard and could never have done what he's being accused of doing.
There has to be a better solution for animals such as this. No kind of prison (existing) is harsh enough.
