Holly's not mistaken. I responded in this RI forum. I'm not a forum hopper. I understand there are those who belong to multiple city data forums.
So is it wrong that I participate in the RI forum? I live in the Providence metro. I grew up watching Salty Brine's kid show and often listened to his WPRO radio show. Truman Taylor's TV studio for WTEV-6 was in New Bedford. I saw school cancellations for mysterious places like Foster and Glocester. My mom had lots of years as a RI resident between Tiverton, Newport, North Kingstown, and Middletown. I know who Ernie DiGregorio and Marvin Barnes are. And Dave Gavitt. I watched Cup races before there were winged keels. I was engaged to a Salve girl.
No, this is a disguised anti-labor rant. Workers are not financially penalized for religious or medical exemptions from the vaccine. Same as in the private sector.
Am I the only one who read the linked article?
It says:
"Workers can get the bonus without being vaccinated for COVID-19 if they are granted a religious or medical exemption"
What is anti-labor about that? It's not a vaccine incentive if you receive money whether or not you get the vaccine. It's just a waste of money if vaccination is the goal. Those who don't want to get vaccinated still won't get vaccinated. Why would they, when all they have to say is "I have a religious objection"?
For the record I'd be against paying ANYONE to get vaccinated with public money.
But, to your larger point, public employees unions own Rhode Island like no other state in the union. This includes wholesale ownership of the state's liberal (and progressive) democrats. What this political ownership says about the differences or similarities with our liberal brothers & sisters across America may not be what you'd like us to think.

No way. He was much smarter than me.
