Folks aren't flocking to New England. Raleigh's population is closing on half a million. I've often preached the wisdom of Providence finding its own economic identity, but clinging to Boston might be its last, best hope of survival in a dwindling region. With its inherent advantages, Boston ain't going anywhere. And neither is New York. Beyond that, it's gonna be a Mad Max movie.
We're already suckling at the teat of Boston's success quite effectively, thank you very much.
And without all the traffic and obnoxious drivers. And better weather. And beaches. And hiking trails. And dare I say it....even breweries. (Treehouse has gone downhill, but Trillium is still a majesty to behold I will confess. But ever had a Peep Toad on draught from Tilted Barn? Liquid sunshine.)
Much of the little population growth we've had post-plandemic has been affluent people from Mass.
That can only be a good thing.
In your moment of clarity you seemed to accept the fact that - despite your lovelorn Rhode Island past - some of us truly appreciate this watery sliver of a state; there is a lot of magic here if you look for it....and you don't even have to try that hard.

I'm in a good mood, you can have the last word between us.
OK, this: Your premise is stupid because Rhode Island is actually a middling state economically - as has been admitted by yourself on multiple occasions.
While you and I would agree that the state has been largely badly managed, it is not a repugnant hell hole; quite the opposite. (Despite bitter bloviating suggesting otherwise.) I would characterize it as more a squandering of wonderful opportunities by our political class - which in no way negates the enjoyment of the inherent benefits this lovely little state bestows.
But arguing in the abstract can still be fun on a dreary morning.
Since Rhode Island is at least nominally a democracy, fault for continual failure lies with the ELECTORATE class. Though I understand the convenience of blaming the evil "politicians". And make no mistake, to be at best a "middlin'"state" in the Northeast, with a port and an interstate, between New York and Boston is not an easy failure to make.
