Have you tried Southern States? I hope your neighbors don't have non-Bermuda grass.

Mulch bed won't stop Bermuda grass, it will grow right through it. It can grow right through asphalt. And once it is established, you'll never get rid of it.

Remember when you choose to plant it it's called Bermuda Grass, when it shows up in your lawn and you don't want it they call it wire grass....

Points well taken.....any other suggestions of low maintenance slow growing, low watering grass. I have also considered zoysia but seems to take longer to establish. Neighbor will have to get over it. Tired of looking at the weeds. Over an acre of yard, my neighbor is retired he has the time to cut grass every week.

zoysia will outgrow bermuda, depending on conditions. Neither are "slow-growing." Once established, they'll take over everything. If you have flower beds, vegetable gardens, mulched areas around trees-- I really don't recommend it; maybe try Kentucky Blue Grass instead, though it takes longer to germinate and mature; however, once it is established, it spreads with underground stolons. Even in the worst drought, the surface will die out, but the underground root system will perk up once it rains just a little pit.

Bermuda grass was brought over by the colonists since their cattle could eat it through and it would still come back. Unfortunately, my homeowners association doesn't allow for a cow.

Also, Bermuda will turn brown at first frost. One way to counteract this is to overseed with ryegrass sometime in October.

Jkang, been researching Yukon bermuda grass seems to be very cold tolerant. Stays green longer. Doesn't Zoysia turn brown as well? Not looking to cut grass every weekend during the summer, once established does rye grow quickly?

I'm getting ready to try and kill off my lawn to cut back on the amount of wire grass I have. Nasty stuff.
