We're less than a week away from the World Cycling Champtionships taking the streets of Richmond by storm. Guess I figured I'd see just what people felt or thought.

Me personally, I'm likely stuck covering it for a few local outlets, and finding stories aside, am deeply worried about how I'm going to make the commute in and out of town from Glen Allen every day with all the main roads closed off. Parking will probably be an even bigger nightmare too.

What about you folks?

I live in Jackson Ward and I've noticed no parking signs going up on the side streets. I'm not sure where I'm going to park when I get home from work. I don't have a Fan parking sticker so I can't park in Carver or the Fan. Parking restrictions even without the bike race are very restrictive downtown so... I guess I'm going to keep my bike in the truck and plan on parking miles away.

Aside from that, I'm very excited about it. I look forward to seeing all of the out-of-towners.

Has there been any official numbers for actual hotel reservations yet?

The event itself will be great. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. The cynical Richmond attitude about anything different from the norm will be the only drawback.

It should be a great economic boost to the area. Huge crowds coming every day. Not to mention the supposedly 300 million people around the world watching live on T.V.

looking for some information about the bus service in Richmond. I am coming in from the north and noticed the Chamberlayne/northside # 37 bus line is right off of rt. 95. Is there a good place to park here to catch the bus? If not any other options that would be easier to get into Downtown Sunday morning, the 27th.

Thanks, Todd

I am dreading this. I work in Shockoe Slip and have to get home (Short Pump) at night by 6 to get my children to activities. I'm hoping to work from home on Thursday and Friday as those days look terrible. My sister lives in Shockoe Bottom and is basically stuck in her apartment next Friday.

I'm glad I don't work downtown, I'll say that much. It's nice to have an event bringing people and money into town, but then it's easier for me to deal with because the roads around work aren't being closed for me.

I live a block off of Broad downtown. It's fun to see the area transformed. Lots of cyclists showed up today. They are milling about. It's cool.
