These NoVa locations include original Macy's as well as converted Hecht's stores. When Federated and May Co. merged all of their stores into Macy's, that is where some of the problems began. But some of the nicer Macy's stores include Pentagon City, Tyson's Corner, and Fair Oaks and these stores have more designer assortments as well as the Macy's brands such as INC.
Last time I was at Macy's at Tyson's it was awful. I grew up with Macy's in CT and it's a very different company these days.

They have a Macy's at both Tyson's 1 and Tyson's 2. The Tyson's 2 store was an original Macy's, and the Tyson's 1 was a former Hecht's. And I believe Fair Oaks may still have 2 Macy's, with one being a former Hecht's.

Macy's seems to have suffered quality control problems since taking over and converting all the former Federated and May Co. divisions as one huge company. The original Macy's company was concentrated in the Northeast down to DC, with stores also in Atlanta, Florida, and California. After the mergers, such large expansion, poor management, and changes in the retail landscape have negatively impacted the company.

Hopefully they will make necessary adjustments and rebound, as there is still a need for physical brick and mortar stores. I personally do not like to buy clothes off the internet unless I have seen an item previously in a Macy's store but need to order a different size. Because that way you know exactly what the item actually looks like, as colors and styles can appear a bit different online.

The open air Suburban Square in Philadelphia's tony Main Line, just underwent a big renovation and it's a nice place to shop. Macy's closing is really a symptom of failure to adjust to a changing retail landscape.
The Short Pump Macy's was built as a Hecht's store, but may have actually opened as a Macy's at the time of the merger.

It's the Tysons 2 store which I find to be disorganized and poorly staffed. And it really doesn't belong at the Galleria. Macy's is a sinking ship.

Hecht's at Regency became Macy's in 2006. Macy's opened in Short pump September of 2003.

Agreed. I do buy clothes and shoes off the internet, but there are still a lot of things that people want to try on.
