My mother and I wish to leave our horrible town. There is so much crime, gun shots on our street, very disturbing things have been occurring here.
I work in a store that has a location in Richmond so I'm hoping they'll transfer me in 8-12 months. I need to know some things;
1. What are some nice neighborhoods for a young single female with no children? I don't party or drink but I like shopping and nature and riding bikes. I also like flea/farmer markets, festivals, etc.
2. We're moving from an area near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I dont know how to go about finding a home in a whole other state to rent. Any suggestions?
Actually, any advice you may have about moving to another state at all would be extremely helpful. I've loved here since I was born. I need to get my license still and we're only taking a small uhal truck and five animals.
Anything you can offer is helpful

Sounds like either Wilmington or Camden. A couple of questions that may help people reply to your post...
1.) What is your budget? How much are you looking to spend on rent each month?
2.) Do you prefer to live in cities or suburbs?
3.) Do you want to rent homes or apartments? How do you feel about Lofts?
4.) Have you ever visited Richmond?
5.) Will you or your mother have a car?

I'm not exactly sure what you are specifically looking for but I will just throw out a few popular neighborhoods for you to look into: Woodland Heights, The Fan, Battery Park, Bellevue, Scott's Addition, Church Hill.

As for overall moving advice, you should definitely spend some quality time in any potential location in order to get a feel for the area and see if it is somewhere that you would be comfortable at. Also, it may be somewhat difficult to find rental properties that will accept you having 5 animals.

Could be Chester PA too. Just avoid areas near the projects and you should be ok in RVA.

Chester PA is really a shame. I've passed it countless times on the train. Honestly, it would be quite the charming place if it could be fixed up.
