Need to take the parents out this weekend. They are aged and hard of hearing. Tin ceilings echoing a hundred voices won't do. We did Alewife a few months ago and they couldn't hear a thing. Acacia went the same. Any quieter recommendations?

Perch put a lot of effort into sound dampening. The surfaces look hard but they actually have sound dampening technology built into them. I spent some time discussing it with the chef (Mike Ledesma). Also the food is awesome!

Chez Max on Patterson? Old school French food, but quiet and subdued atmosphere.

Bookbinder's is very quiet imho. Shagbark is technically Henrico, but also subdued. Both are excellent in a classic sense. Buckhead's is clearly suburban but also has that luxury, subdued feel.
