I grew up in Ginter Park, have lived outside the area for 25 years and am considering a move back. Barton Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods catch my interest but I'm wondering how the neighborhood is taking to revitalization. Obviously, this part of Richmond has been working class and African American for decades and I am uneasy with the sudden influx of families with $$$$ into long struggling neighborhoods. Anyone live in this part of town with direct experience? For the record, I am a white male.

I don't understand the question? Area is gentrifying like mad. Houses that cost 60k 5 years ago are now going for 300k. People I know who live there like it a lot, but you might get your lawnmower stolen

I lived on Griffin Ave when I first moved to the area and I loved it. I'm not sure I understand what is being asked here, however. Are you asking if there is tension between the local residents and the white people that are replacing them? I'm black btw.

No more or no less than any other neighborhood experiencing large scale demographic shifts. It is jarring to have neighborhoods that have largely been ignored and neglected to suddenly become "hot" and unaffordable to longtime residents. I think that's the story all across the country.

Which zip code are you referring to? Is that part of Richmond considered low or higher crime?

Where are the crime areas to avoid anyways?

Thank you

Stay safe and healthy everyone
