Hi All,

We are looking to move to the area and want to rule out all the possibilities. We are not LGBT friendly and wondering the amount of it exists in these neighborhoods or the surrounding areas? I just read Richmond is big on welcoming them etc

I grew up NJ and lived in NY and totally accept being around them. But I don’t want to raise my kids in a place with a heavy influence of it. Not sure how much of that is taught in schools here in Glen Allen and Short Pump area.

Hog wash.

There is no gay agenda. People existing freely and openly should threaten no one.
All of Western culture has conspired to perpetuate heterosexuality. The fact that LGBTQ people even exist should be all the proof you need that no one can turn your child gay, they can turn them from bigots into productive citizens that don’t waste their energy fearing the neighbors though. What kind of monster doesn’t want that for their child?

I’ll take your word that you are not homophobic but it is weird that you’d seek out a place that prefers to keep children (who are adults for a much greater part of their lives) in the closet. One “wear rainbow colors” day at school isn’t going to indoctrinate them but it may make the LGBTQ child (and yours may be one) feel more connected to their peers.

If you are really worried that the "gay agenda" is being "taught" in schools, please don't move here.

Perhaps moving to as small and isolated a town as possible will be a helpful strategy for you. It is very jarring to read "We are not LGBT friendly." Staying away from the Richmond metro area (or any metro area) might be a possibility.

I feel that I could have typed it in a softer tone. Had no intention.
