Rather new to VA and looking to venture out from the Hampton Roads area a little. Does anyone know of any mature (like 30 and over) nightclubs (R&B/hip hop) in the Richmond area? Doesn't really have to be 30 and over just something with a mature atmosphere. Thanks for your help.

My suggestion would be the Tobacco Company downstairs. Usually a pretty mixed group there age-wise. I'm 34 and still head out though I look and act pretty young still Vault, under Bank restaurant on Main Street also has a nice dance club. Hope you find something fun to get into!

You're better off checking out D.C.

Are you going to clog every thread on here with your self-pity? If you hate Richmond so much find a way to move. I can't believe some people make it their hobby to convince everyone that if they come to Richmond they'll be as miserable as they are. I'm sorry you aren't liking it here but you should consider that there are other factors to your unhappiness.. not just the place you live. I'm new-ish to Richmond (8 years here now) and enjoy living here. It's not heaven on Earth but what place is? I will say that if you want a City that's eay to get around, offers interesting neighborhoods and architecture, is chock full of unique little shops and restaurants, and offers an array of outdoor activities, then you'd enjoy living here.

They do have some events here like at the Canal Club or Fridays at Sunset. I'm sure there are a lot more in the shockoe bottom area but I have no idea what is open and what is closed now days. But to me the clubs are no where near like the DC scene and I can't even believe you're trying to actually argue it otherwise.

I guess it depends on what you're into and how old you are. DC has many more clubs so you are likely to find something you're into so check out DC and compare if you can. Also I don't recall saying anything bad about Richmond in my post above..

Some listings here, not sure how up to date they are though:
