Hi all! I have lived in a few different places over the years. I used to live in a small college town in rural Minnesota, where people usually hitchhike with no problem. After I moved to upstate New York, I was warned by my coworkers that NY is probably not a good place for hitchhike due to personal safety reasons. As I plan to move to Roanoke next year, I wonder if hitchhike is safe in Roanoke? What would you do if strangers offer you a ride? (in bright day light.) Thanks and I appreciate your thoughts!

I certainly did my share of hitchhiking when I was young (foolish & lucky) and I’m certainly not a paranoid person now, however, I would recommend against doing that today regardless of the location which has little to do with just crossing paths with the wrong person, It just takes one!
