I posted a lot last month when we were deciding where to live in Roanoke and we have officially been in our Wasena area home for one week. I really love it! We have had SO many friendly neighbors stop by, some with fruit or goody baskets, the neighbor across the street came by and made a Lowe's run for us while my husband and my dad were putting up a picket fence. Some of our neighbors are putting together a block party for this fall! We've been running through Wasena Park, trying out the many other local parks and coffee shops, etc. I'm amazed at how much there is to do and so grateful for how friendly everyone has been!!
I give Roanoke two thumbs up!!

Me too, definitely two thumbs up. We're on the other side of Grandin Village from where you are, but we've had the same kind of welcome. It's a walk-friendly, bike-friendly, even skateboard-friendly place to be. I know we're still in the "honeymoon" phase and everything is all shiny and new, but we're really happy we moved here =)

(now if only we could sell our house in central NY!)

Fantastic! We live near Wasena and spend a lot of time on the greenway there. Glad to hear you're enjoying Roanoke and have felt so welcome

I live in Grandin Court (behind PH high school) and FINALLY figured out the best way to bike from my house to the greenway via Wasena Park--a route that minimizes hills and traffic! I can be there in 10-15 minutes of moderately paced riding.

It's a great part of town.

You all make it sound so dreamy! We are considering a relocation from NC to Roanoke and you aren't helping me decide to stay in NC, that's for sure.

I want to live in this magical land you describe, with all the nice neighbors and coffee shops!!

We are a young family considering the move. Could you all offer some of your fav places to visit? I need advice as far as location (I hear you on the grandin area) preschools? Dance schools for kids? Things like that?

Thanks in advance!
Mandy
