Yes, I can google also but I would like opinion of someone who has actually been to the place to give me a real recommendation as opposed to looking at picture and hoping that you are not going to pay $1500 and be miserable!

Understandable, but you have to take in to account that a lot of these cottages you're going to find on the lake are investments by the land owners and will more than likely prove to be anything but miserable. Especially in the Sodus Bay area, that place is a hot bed of summer activity between May and October and people will pay a premium to a nice place, so the cottage owners are going to make sure they have the most value possible in their properties. I guarantee with 95% or more of these places that what you see in the pictures is going to be exactly what you get in real life.
I'll tell you right now that if you're looking for a good time in a quality cottage surrounded by others who enjoy the lake vacation lifestyle, Sodus Bay is probably going to be your best bet, and I wouldn't think of many places as being possible let downs.
