Have you ever been the victim of this sort of crime here? If so, care to share your story and where it happened? I have been robbed a few times of bikes and mugged of whatever money I had on me, especially when I was younger. Successful and unsuccessful attempts to rob me happened on Goodman near Norton Street, on Culver near Parsells, on E. Main near the armory and I was even chased by a group of 8 people through the side streets between Goodman and Waring a few years back. I don't consider any of those places to be bad neighborhoods. This isn't a thread attempting to make Rochester seem like a dangerous city, in fact I usually defend the city when people make these claims. Crimes such as robbery however, seem to be rampant in the city even in nicer neighborhoods and I'm wondering if anyone else has been a victim in Rochester.

I was mugged once in my old neighborhood. They got my wallet and cell phone.
Somebody tried to mug me on east ave once at around 3 am when the streets were empty. What the guy didn't know is that I had a friend around the corner catching up and he was taken care of nicely

Had my car and various family members cars broken into while living in Webster.

But you're right, robberies happen everywhere in entertainment districts in every city since it's easy to take advantage of drunk people.

Or drunk college students, who in many cases come from standard suburbia and may not have street smarts.

Sometimes it is a matter of underage drinking or even trying to cop drugs and they end up getting robbed that way. So, with the first example, they feel that they will get in trouble if they call for an escort from campus law enforcement, but sometimes it ends up worse than it has to.

yep. At my college at SUNY Plattsburgh there were robberies. And that was in a very rural area.
