Let's hear it, the negatives of the area for others to be aware of...
Please don't comment if you disagree. That makes you a troll. This is just a thread for the negatives to ensure that people get a more well-rounded point-of-view.
Don't burden the admins with argumentative and trolling posts. They work hard for us. This is just a counter to the blinded, something with a touch of alternative perspective. Also, this isn't a trolling post. I truly stand by my statements.

As a newcomer to these forums - I think you and a couple others make it practically unusable. I don't see the point of posting negative things in every thread. I'll find a better venue for information on the city since your constant interference ruins the experience of the forum.

Thanks.
Please find another thread to post in. You seem to have trouble reading. Stick to OP, please.
Thank you very much for this discussion! I think it is important for people to see the real side of Rochester and this pretty much apply across the whole Upstate NY.
1. Cloudy skies for more than half of thee time.
2. Depressing economy
3. Conservative
4. High property tax (a friend of mine owns a $1 million house in Flushing NY and his property tax is only $9,000 a year versus the same state but in Pittsford NY would be over $43,000). Sure the housing is much cheaper in Upstate NY but you eventually end up paying for another house after 30 years of property tax.
5. Cheap housing due to low demand
6. Restaurants are terrible
7. Nobody hangs out in downtown on weekends
8. Far away from major city like NYC and Toronto (ideal for me would be within 45 minutes )
9. Far away from an ocean
10. Ghost town in the winter even in the most desirable rental plaza namely Pittsford plaza
11. Most of the people move away after they graduate
12. Bad drivers in the winter and old drivers in the summer
13. people are pessimistic as Wells's depressed especially in winter time
14. Having to make connection flights to other cities (international airport -What a joke)
15. Practically no development or new constructions
Testing Charlotte would only yield a negative score. Perhaps the first -2/5 invented.
When my friend came and visit us from Manhattan, he was so excited and jump into Ontario lake for a quick swim. 10 minutes later, he felt itchy all over his body and the locals said it is due to the pollution.
I hope none of you other Rochester haters are Ben Folds fans. Seems this isn't the only forum that mr. Rory likes to troll just to taunt people. Interesting hobby.

I guess that is the life of a self proclaimed tech geek.
cawolf86, don't worry about this, as you can tell which posts are about giving information and which have a personal agenda. I was literally stalked by one of the personalities. So, I understand how you feel.
Rochester as a metro, had a modest population gain between 2000-2010 and I believe that the city has also seen a modest gain in recent years.
Please stay on topic.
The rocky beaches are awful!
