I was born and raised in Rochester I left 3 different times twice as a teen and once as an adult. This last move was to Portland, Or and let's just say I'm quite dissatisfied after a year and will be home within a couple of months. In the end I think it all boils down to just wanting to be home. I know the town like the back of my hand, also miss the people.. Rochester is quite a friendly place to live when compared to Portland. So anyways I know its pretty common for Rochesterians to move away then come back... have any of you forum posters done so? Where'd you move to? What did you miss about Rochester?
Its funny to me that you feel that way, and to you it seems that it was an enlightening experience.
To many or how many would like to make it seem is that Portland is the cultural mecca of progress, the garden of eden for hipsters and progressives and yet you couldn't find your peace there.
I'm interested was it something bad about Portland? A combination of that and missing home? Are there any specifics you would like to point out?
Was there something you couldn't stand about Portland that makes you want to leave? And on the flip side, what made you move from Rochester to Portland in the first place?
im interested also in what you didn't like about portland. i was born in rochester, (grew up in greece and victor/canandaigua area later on) and now living on west coast. i was always interested in the pacific northwest just because thats the only part of the country ive never been too.
