I'm trying to find some reviews of the place but there is not many since it's so new.

One thing I am seeing from the reviews though is that there is a problem with the sound floor/ceiling sound proofing. Can anybody else confirm or deny that?

At 800J I have zero sound proofing problems as I never hear my neighbors and I can turn my stuff up pretty loud with no complaints. I talked to the leasing person there and they assured me the insulation is very thick and there should be no issues. Of couse I don't trust them so looking for outside opinions.

Thinking of moving out of downtown, Majin? The Alhambra Triangle is a nice neighborhood, still close to transit and stuff, but it's a little quiet out that way--although with things like Temple Coffee and Revolution Wines at 29th and S, it's getting less so. I'm still holding out for someone to convert one of the grand old historic buildings downtown into condos or lofts--I'd give up my Midtown historic home for a place downtown in a great old building like the Kress, the Senator Hotel or the Regis building.

It's not that I have any desire to move out of downtown, it's just that my lease is up soon and Alexan has some really crazy deals where I have to give some serious thought on moving there. I don't know if you have been to their leasing office but I'll tell you this: It's CONSIDERABLLY less than anything else comparable in midtown and downtown. Way below market rate.

It's close to transit, freeway, and a grocery store (Natural Foods) but other than that I hate the fact that it's kinda far out the way from the hustle and bustle of midtown.

I also don't know anything about the construction quality of the building despite what the leasing agent said. 800J was built with thick reinforced conrete slabs and there is zero noise that leaks through the walls. I've learned to appretiate that as I've lived in places with thin walls and it sucks big time.

If Alexan is anything like it I'd regret moving right away. Sadly it's not something you can tell without moving in or knowing someone who has lived there for a considerable amount of time.

Having watched the place being built, it's mostly wood. Not reinforced concrete slabs. Supposedly it was built to condo standards, but I'm not sure what that means in the real world.

Hey Majin, did you ever end up moving to the Alexan Midtown apartments?
I'm hoping to get some feedback / reviews regarding the noise situation.

Does anyone have any feedback regarding the noise (floor/ceiling) in these apartments?

Also, I keep hearing about great deals. What's a rough estimate of what I can expect to be offered for a 1 bedroom??

Thanks in advance!

No, I stayed at 800J. Along with the soundproofing there were some other minor issues I didn't like about the place.

Last time I checked, 1brs were about $1300/month, including parking. Which was less than a studio at 800J with parking.

Yeah, 800 J is a rip-off for what you get. Plus the extra 100+ dollars a month for parking is insane.
Same thing with Capitol Towers; an extra 150.00 bucks a month for parking. I checked out an apt at CT recently and was kinda grossed out. The hallways in the towers stunk like cigarettes and the decor reminded me of a Vegas casino circa 1977. I was waiting for Dyan Cannon to come out of one of the rooms with a Harvey Wallbanger in hand.
Alexan sounds like a good deal. Plus the neighborhood is pretty safe and there are a few things within walking distance like the Co-Op and Starbucks.

I just found this thread as I'm still apt hunting.
I called the Alexan this weekend to inquire about a one bedroom. The leasing agent I spoke to (I wont say her name) was incredibly rude. She seemed really disinterested in speaking with me and rather annoyed and condescending. With the risk of sounding hyper sensitive I kind of got my feelings hurt
After I disconected, I picked up my Sharpie and drew a bit fat line through The Alexan Midtown on my apt hunting list.
It's unfortunate because it did look like a nice property.

Default My alexan midtown review

So, against my own instincts (based on that prior phone call) I chose to visit The Alexan. Here is what I experienced:

I walked in during the late afternoon and saw one leasing agent speaking with a prospective resident. I saw another agent walking around the foyer making small talk to a "young and super hip looking couple" but really not assisting anyone.
I stood there [right in the middle of it all] for about ten minutes and absolutely no one acknowledged me. Not even a simple, "hi, be right with you". So I decided to see how long it would take for someone, anyone, to at least look my way.
It took 20 minutes before I was even greeted (if you can call it that).
A pretentious leasing agent looked at me and raised her eyebrows as if she was thinking "Sorry, but the custodial help enters through the back".
Feeling gravely offended, I managed to blurt out that I was interested in current availability and perhaps looking at a model.
She unenthusiastically agreed and asked to see my ID and disappeared with it for about ten minutes.
She finally returned and dispassionately toured me through the lobby, the complimentary "coffee bar", kitchen, exercise room and pool area.
I saw two apartments. They can be best described as cookie cutter track apartment homes with virtually no style; just a bland white box with granite counter tops.
When we returned to the office I thanked her and asked for a business card. Like a wounded animal, she hauled herself into some corner room, came back and handed it to me.
I left and immediately called two friends and told them about the horrible experience I had. All I could do was laugh at that point.
I'm not sure if this how they initially treat all prospective residents or perhaps I wasn't White enough to gain their basic respect or interest. One thing I did realize is that The Alexan Midtown barely possesses any style and has absolutely zero substance.
My advice: spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

To be fair to the management to alexan midtown, I did not have an experience anything like what you mentioned. They were actually pretty nice, attentive and I got service right away. It was just the apartment I didn't like (compared to 800J).

If I lived in the burbs alexan would be a big upgrade but IMHO it's a bit of a downgrade from 800J.
