Hello, I have posted here before asking about the Sacramento area. I have mentioned that I may be transferring with my company to Roseville. I have been looking at different apartment complexes that are within my budget (which is pretty modest), and I have come across one that might fit on Marconi ave in Carmichael.

I have skimmed through the Carmichael threads, but haven't really seen much about the Marconi ave area. Is this at least a halfway decent area? safe?. I don't have any children with me as they are both grown and out on their own, so I don't have any concerns about schools. I am a single woman, age 43.

I think it was 5000 Marconi Ave. Carmichael Village Apts.

I had an elderly friend who lived on Marconi for many years near that address. I don't recall the name of her complex, but I would recognize it. It's an older, neighborhood. It was reasonably quiet. I would suggest checking the crime maps.

It should be fine, I don't live far from there and I watch all the crime report data, the worst that happens around this area is an occasional non-injury hit and run.

I'm honestly not thrilled with the Marconi/Walnut area. There are several apartment complexes on Manzanita between the split (where Manzanita starts) and Madison Avenue that look very nice. I have a friend that lives in the big complex next to the church (I think it's Christ Community) and she really likes it there, and feels its very safe.

Ok, I just had a great time doing virtual shopping for an apartment. This is what I (older single woman) would feel totally safe renting:

Creekside Oaks, 4875 Manzanita Ave. 1 bedroom, 1 bath $695
Windmill Place, 5738 Windmill, 1 bedroom, 1 bath $695
Arden Way Apartments, 5200 Arden Way, 1 bedroom, 1 bath $600

Nor am I, or the other area you mentioned, but overall, I think either should be fine. IMO, it's even worse dealing with the changing management of apartment complexes.

Thanks for the replies. I was born and raised in Redding, CA, so I know the Sacramento area a little..but not much.

I was looking at the reviews online about the complex I am interested in and one person mentioned cockroaches, which means I will go NOWHERE near it. I realize that I will not be in a high end condo and my choices are limited, but come on....I want a simple, safe and CLEAN place.

I will probably be moving on to look elsewhere.

Even some of the nicest areas have cockroaches. It's just a matter of environment control & spraying the hell out of them. My house in Folsom had them when I moved in....haven't seen them for a while now.
