I don't know anything about it personally, but I did do a quick google search and found this:

Plane crash passenger was Colfax High grad, accomplished airman | Auburn Journal

"The McIsaac family were long-time Weimar residents and Jimmy's family owned the once-prosperous Jimmy Inn."

Which is not much, I know, but it's not mentioned in too many palces that I can find. In fact, if you google "jimmy inn" the first couple of links are for this post!

Yello pages have:

Jimmy Inn The
20299 W Paoli Ln, Weimar, CA 95736

dining in Weimar, California from the True Yellow Pages Directory - page 1

As far I can tell, it's no longer there. If you google the address and look at the street view, it looks like there is a Country Store near that address, so manybe that was it?

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=39.03...,88.67,,0,3.92

Hope that helps!

that's fantastic, MM....I did google it and didn't find that Auburn article, but that article certainly helps....the yellow pages and street view links are great and certainly confirms the approximate location....when I'm up there next, I'll drop in at the country store and chat up the locals about whatever became of it....I remember it being sort of a nice steak house, but not at all pretentious....a nice spot for people on I-80 traveling who want to take a break at a decent place for dinner....

thanks a lot for your time, MM.....

if anybody else has more details about the Jimmy Inn, when it closed or whatever, please chime in....thanks

As to answer any questions about the " JimmyInn" it was sold to a Electrician who ran his bussiness below while living above the inn. He lost the place and I was called to go and repair the building. 2 years later the building was just sitting. I dropped by on the way to Tahoe and fire trucks were out front of the Inn. I pulled up and asked about the Inn and they said it had been broken into and trashed.. Im currently cleaning out the building again and its going up for sale cheap cheap.. there is no wiring or plumbing left..just an empty shell..

Jimmy Inn was on the side of the freeway in Weimar, right past West Paoili Exit (which is the Exit you take to get to Jimmy Inn). The Overpass is right next to it, or really close.Across the overpass is the Weimar Institute which used to be a Terberculosis Clinic. It's now a Seventh Day Adventist Center, some live there and others come to stay since they have a Motel. Lots of health related stuff goes on there. AN excellent, and very cheap cafeteria is available if you stop by. They'll feed you even if they are closed. All Vegetarian food

I've seen the upstairs of Jimmy Inn for rent on Craigslist (though it isn't advertised as such) Very Cheap rent and it included utilities. It's been listed on Craigslist three times in the last 12 months or so.

Downstairs Jimmy Inn is full of junk (I hear) yet the remains of the tables and restaurant remain...I thought. I've not heard of the fire burning the building though we sort of live in that area. gdpiker is probably correct though you could phone the Weimar Country Store in Weimar to find out. There are two little stores, one with gas, one without. The one to call is the Weimar Country Store.

Downstairs is where the restaurant was

Across the street and up slightly are reminants of the former Gas Station- the White Cement looking pumps are still there and the overhead. And the spanish looking building. Next to the gas station is a wooden type cabin building which used to be a bar. It houses a Whitewater Rafting Company..tributary I think. They would know and their number is 1-800-672-3846

I graduated from Colfax High School in 1987. In 1986 one of my best friends used to bartend at Jimmy Inn. She adored the couple? which owned it. She looked far over 21 but was only 17. They had no clue though she attended high school at the adjacent town. The Owners treated her very well. About a year ago, I peedk thru the windows to see the same restaurant items inside, booths and such. Amongst a bunch of junk...But it was neat anyhow

as the OP, I'm resurrecting this thread for any who are interested....

finally made a visit up there last week to check out what remains of the Jimmy Inn in Weimar.....the two-story building still stands and, incredibly, even the old "Jimmy Inn Restaurant" sign on a pole still stands, though much faded.....two cars were parked out front and, as somebody upthread suggested, they may belong to current residents/tenants.....there was a dumpster-like thing out front, too.....

I didn't do more than a quick drive-by and turn-around.....good to see old memories

thanks to the other posters in this thread
