I'm planning to move to Sacramento this summer and attend Sacramento City College and later transfer to California State University at Sacramento. I'm wondering if those two schools are good for a Chinese girl like myself? Right now those are my only choices and I'm not sure which major I want to major in yet.
Thank you very much!

Maybe someone could give you a suggestion if you mentioned your interests.

Sacramento City College is one of four community colleges in the Los Rios Community College District. The individual colleges have individual and unique programs. You could get an AA in Railroad Operations and Maintenance at Sacramento City College, which isn't offered at the other three campuses, just as an example. Likewise, an AA is available in Foreign Languages only at American River College.

General education requirements are identical at all four community colleges, as is the course numbering. So, if Geography 310 at Sacramento City College isn't offered at a good time, you could take Geography 310 at Cosumnes River College or American River College and it will be the same course.

Thank you, KC6ZLV for the response!

Is there programs in Sacramento City College that offer Japanese? And if so, is there a placement test which I can take?
So it is all right to enroll in more than one city college in Sacramento at once?

You can enroll at any of the community colleges listed. When you apply to any of them you are really applying to the district.

I've seen Japanese courses, but I don't remember which community college. You can always look at the class schedules at the individual campuses to find out.

Information on placement tests are also on their webpages.

What if I applied to Sacramento City College? Do I have to apply again for other Los Rios schools?

No. You are applying to the Los Rios Community College District and can attend any classes you are eligible for at any campus.

Thank you. I was wondering, since all schools are facing budget cuts, does this mean the classes at Los Rios Colleges will be bigger and it will be difficult to get into certain classes?

If you are concerned about attending a college as a minority, Sacramento is a very diverse place. You will do just fine in any college you attend. Both of your choices are good, btw.
