Hi , My husbands company is transferring us to Sandy for his job. I am really worried how we will all make new friends. My daughter will not have a problem she is really outgoing but I worry about me and my son. He is into motocross racing and I do see that there are tracks there. He graduates high school this year and that's when me and the kids will move out there. If he was still in school it would be easier for him to meet new friends but he is worried that he won't make many friends easy by not being in school. Are the kids real clickish
there or are they outgoing and like to make new friends? I know this town that we live in now is very clickish.
He is 17 and that is a hard age to move. Where would be the best place for him to meet people that accept new transplants? Also where would be a good area to live close to Sandy where the homes are not on top of each other? Meaning not so close together. We have a RV and four cars plus a enclosed motorcycle trailer. We need plenty of room for parking. We may need to rent until we sell our house here, are rental houses hard to come by? We can not do apartments. Plus we have dogs we will be bringing. Thanks for any info.

I think trying to find room for all that might be your deciding factor on where you'll live. Oh, and rental properties that allow dogs that have all that outdoor storage space might be challenging depending on your budget. What is your budget? Might want to start familiarizing yourself with names of towns and zip codes for cities surrounding Sandy to aid you in your housing search. Links aren't working properly but here's one anyway. Rental properties search:

I don't have kids so can't help you there. But there are a lot of kids around here. Your 17 year old can probably find info online about motocross groups around Sandy. He could probably start his social circle based on that.

You may want to consider a storage facility for all but the cars. There are ones that specialize in it. You may have to look outside the main cities to find what you need in terms if paving for all that stuff.

Thanks I was thinking about renting a storage area for the rv and trailer. Anybody know of anywhere my husband can rent a studio or a basement apartment that is furnished that he could rent for about 2 months? He has to come ahead in March to start work. We just can't afford anything to high because we still have a mortgage and all of our own moving fees from Alabama. We just fund out about relocating this past week, a real surprise to say the least. Not prepared at all. We will be out in Feb. to look around the area. So stressful! Any advice would be appreciated. We have looked on craigslist but I never really trust craigslist ads.

KSLTV.com has better ads. He can find a mother-in-law type apt. in an older house for a reasonable price. Sugar House has many of them.

You wouldn't want to live in the area called "North Salt Lake," however there are eight or ten small communities north of Salt Lake City proper that are very nice. That way you might be able to find a little bit of land.
