I know you can get from Salt Lake City to Penn Station in New York, by taking the California Zephyr to Chicago, and then changing there to NY.
To Hyde Park, dunno.

Maybe you can call AMTRAK ???

I'm from the Long Island area.

I have no idea how to get to/from SLC to Utah.

But, once you are in Manhattan, you take the LIRR (long Island RailRoad)to the New Hyde Park stop. (I believe there is a New Hyde Park stop? I'm getting old! But you can cab it from a near close stop. )

But that is what you want to look up:
LIRR from Penn Station to New Hyde Park.

The LIRR does NOT go out of Grand Central Station. I know AMTRAK goes in and out of Grand Central but can't remember if it goes out of Penn Station or not.

If this wan't clear, let me know and I'll try to help you again.
