that crap relied on people entering information on their ipods, could it be that the other cities didn't enter as much as SA?

plus they didn't even have the numbers of runners

you could have 2 people in SA who ran 6.2 miles each and 35 people in Austin who ran between 6.5 and 5 Miles, but because SA came out to higher average it is listed as higher.

that list is far from reliable

From the article:

Quote:
While the New York City Marathon is the Super Bowl of competitive running, that doesn’t necessarily mean that New York is the nation’s running capital the rest of the year. To find out the cities where runners consistently keep up a marathon’s pace, The Daily Beast partnered with DailyBurn.com, the fast-growing website and iPhone app where roughtly 1 million users enter and track running distance and other workout and calorie data.

It monitored 1 million people in America's biggest cities, Austin is one of them. Austin wasn't listed for a reason. Where you get 2 people in San Antonio and 35 in Austin is beyond me. Nothing more than a sweeping generalization.

San Antonio just opened a 50 mile greenway forming a loop, the Salado, Medina and Leon Greenways. then there is the 12 mile San Antonio Missions national park hike and bike trail, plus the 15 mile Rivewalk expansion. These are just the urban pathways. That should surpass what Austin has or put at the same level.

credit tgnnaway:

By 2012 Leon Creek greenway will extend about 16 miles and reach from 1604 to South of 410 (broken by Lackland AFB).

Salado Creek Greenway will extend over 22 miles from North to South (broken by Fort Sam).

Medina River will extend about 13 miles from Hwy 16, around the Toyota plant, to Mitchell Lake.

Add that to the mentioned 27 miles in hike and bike trails being built you've got almost 80 miles of new trails. That doesn't include miles of trails available at the 180+ parks spread across SA.

No wonder National Geographic ranked us one of the 12 best adventure cities!

San Antonio seems to be the first city with central city B-Cycle sharing in Texas. 19 downtown stations.
