Anyone know anything about the new YMCA that is opening on Walzem?

First we were told June, then October, and now I can't find out anything at all on it.

Massive interior demo takes time, they are going to have an indoor swimming pool.

Same here - nothing but the banner. I live a block away.

On the good news side though the new public library at Roosevelt is opening tomorrow.

I'm past the building multiple times daily and there is nothing going on inside. I've seen workmen there maybe a handful of times over the entire summer.

finally got an email back from the YMCA office

"Thank you for your interest in the Walzem Family YMCA. We are continuing to work on the construction plans and finalizing some odds and ends within that process. We anticipate opening early next year, we have just run into a few things that have caused a delay. We hope that you continue your interest and that you visit us when we open our doors."

So it's still up in the air really for opening - guess I'll just join curves.

Thanks so much for the update! I live in the same general area and was looking forward to having a "Y" nearby. The lack of apparent progress was dismaying, but I was devastated when I noticed the "YMCA" banner had disappeared. Glad to hear it's still on the slate...albeit a bit off schedule.
