Hello!
I currently live in Omahell, NE and my family and I are going to move to Texas next June because I'm hoping to get into Texas State in San Marcos for the fall. I would be a transfer student since I will have my associates in Feb. However my job where I currently am would most likely transfer me to San Antonio. I don't want to work at my job forever because I don't enjoy it, but it's a guaranteed job so I would at least be working there in the beginning. My problem is I heard traffic is HORRIBLE. So if I'm working in SA, and having to go to classes 2 or 3 times a week in San Marcos, what is my best option? I've heard New Braunfels is also nice but I know nothing about any of it! Are there any other nice towns inbetween that would help with my travel time, or am I just screwed either way? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

What part of San Antonio is the guaranteed work in? Don't need to reveal where... just qive us a quadrant (NE/NW/SE/SW) and whether it's nearer to Loop 410 or 1604.

I went to Texas State for a spell (used to be called SW Texas) and had a job in SA. What I ended up doing was living in SA and just commuting for the 2 or 3 days a week. Was a 45 minute drive door to door (live NC SA - inside 1604). Drove early before traffic and after I got used to it, it wasn't that bad.

Yeah, 45 minutes is about what I've been hearing as well....it's not too bad to me but I wondered if there were better options. I've also heard that New Braunfels was more a family place so it sparked my interest.

It also depends on the time of the day that you are going to be driving North or South on I-35.

So you would be commuting to work by around 1604 & NW Military or thereabouts and going to school in San Marcos a few days a week. This leaves you with two options: you can live closer to either work or school, which would give you a short commute for a few days out of the week, but a longer commute to the other location.

I'd prefer closer to work since ill be there 5 or 6 days, whereas I'll only be at school 2 or 3 times a week and I like the big city so I guess I'd like to live closer to San Antonio than San Marcos.

Your best bet is Garden Ridge, but it depends on whether or not you can afford it.
Living in Garden Ridge, you wouldn't have to deal with the madness at I35 & 1604.
