I'm lookin' to do the ol' snip snip. Does anyone have any recommendations where to go? I live on the NW side.

Dr. Arthur Centeno at Adult Urologic Care In South Texas :: Urology San Antonio
He's in the Nix Building on Navarro downtown. He was knowledgeable (always nice), compassionate and skilled. A lot of folks have complained from pain afterwards but hubby experienced none after a week or two.

I don't have a recommendation but I would stay far away from Urology San Antonio. Can't remember the doctors name (we call him Dr. Frankenstein)but it was a horrible experience.

edit: I just checked the website, it was Dr. Daniel Saltzstein. I won't go into detail but DO NOT go to his guy!!

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions, but you made me laugh with your wording!

I had my vasectomy 31 years ago. My doctor no longer practices. It was fast, painless, and only $150 in 1979!

Best $150 you ever spent I bet.

It surely was! If one feels he has had enough children, it's the best alternative.

I do not understand the stigma men have toward vasectomy. Birth control was physically hard on my wife, expensive, and not as effective as "the old snip snip". Female tube tying is a major operation requiring hospitalization, general anesthesia, and a longer recovery. Vasectomy takes 20 minutes under local anesthesia in a doctor's office. Discomfort is minimal. Just take it easy for a couple of days.

I have heard so many misconceptions about vasectomy from MEN over the years! Many thought removal of something or things was involved. Some thought there would be no evidence of "completion", and one thought the evidence would be powder! There is nothing different, except there will be no pregnancy.

If anything, it was a big help in every way, because all worry of pregnancy was taken away, and any inhibitions went away with that worry, both for me and my wife. There seemed to be more evidence of completion!

I am no longer married, but I still have no worries! I am the father of two, and grandfather of four. I certainly would not want to start fatherhood over again at this point in my life!

If you cannot find any good options in San Antonio, Richard Chopp in Austin is very experienced (13,000+ vascetomies in 35 years.)

Yes, that is his real name. And, he goes by Dick, not Richard.
