For those unfamiliar with TED I suppose you have been missing out.

TED: Ideas worth spreading

Quote:
Human trafficking, ending hunger, building sustainable cities and using bionics to help wounded warriors walk will be topics of the city's first full-fledged TEDx event Oct. 16 at Trinity University's Jane and Arthur Stieren Theater.

The local, self-organized event is inspired by TED, a nonprofit group that is inviting leading thinkers to speak. Speakers at Trinity will include Mayor Julián Castro; Graham Weston, chairman of Rackspace Hosting; and Lawrence Lessig, a professor at Harvard Law School.

To attend the $50 event, apply at TEDxSanAntonio by midnight Wednesday.

Mayor, others to speak at Trinity

I won't be attending but I hope these talks will be posted on the ted site for all to enjoy.

Trinity University also does a splendid job in attracting world renown speakers. For them to now host a TEDx event is all very good for our city.
