Caramel and chamoy are different flavors; they aren't the same.

When I was a kid, my brother was really into those chamoy packets. Me, not so much. I LOVED the "Lucas" product. I would buy a Lucas everytime I could! I would eat the Lucas all by itself (I wouldn't put it on anything); I was addicted to that stuff!

I don't recall ever having a "chamoy apple" but I'm sure they exist(ed).

Exactly, when someone says 'chamoy' in town, others from here are going to think of Rago Pulp Chamoy.

I was thinking what in the world is 'chamoy apple'? I see what it is now. Something closer to a Vero Mango candy with that icky chili powder on it which I always wash off.

It is always surprising to hear of the newer foreign foods that newer Mexican immigrants are bringing with them here. I was just getting used to less Tex-Mex restaurants and more taquerias, places where the tacos are more greasy, rather than on dry, fluffy white flour tortillas, and even being asked if I want my taco on a corn or flour tortilla. Before the only kind of taco that got eaten with corn were barbacoa tacos and that was by old timers. Sure, we always bought corn tortillas but only to make enchiladas with.

Love the fact that I have been alive long enough to see the culture slowly changing by our ethnic cousins from south of the border.

I almost forgot about chalupas and crispy tacos!! Of course these things might mean something totally different outside of Texas but I know what they mean here. As for flour tortillas I love it when they are homemade and bubble up on the comal as they just did here less than an hour ago. Getting them kind of crispy can be fun too!
