Some of you have probably already seen it on highway signs. Starting this weekend, every weekend will be "no refusal." Anyone who refuses a breath test, will have blood drawn after a search warrant is issued.

Of course, criminal lawyers will have something to say against it. What is their solution to us have the most drunk driving accidents in the state? Oh, and thank goodness the DA is refusing to take plea bargains.

Here are some more statistics. Drunk driving was the leading cause of traffic-related fatalities in Bexar County between 2004 and 2008; speeding was second. Most of the drunk drivers were between the ages of 21 and 24, so we most likely aren't dealing with alcoholics. 159 people were killed by drunk drivers in 2008. I wonder how many more suffered bodily injury and property damage.

I would never hire a lawyer who cannot spell "forcibly" or use spell check. He spelled "forcibly" as "forcibley" two times.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I'm glad we're doing more to get people like that off the roads and to protect innocent people who might be in harm's way, but on the other hand, I'm not sure I like the fact that someone can just TAKE blood from me without my consent.

If you've committed a traffic violation, appear drunk, and refuse a breath test, then I think there is enough reason to issue a warrant.
