Are there any other schools prek-12 (if possible to 12), that are highly rec'd other than St. Thomas More, St. Mary's Hall and Keystone?

I am looking for a rigorous curriculum.

Cornerstone?

School probably doesn't get more rigorous than Keystone. Most peoples' kids aren't rigorous enough to get in there.

San Antonio Academy for boys. Keystone is tops I think.

I taught mathematics at Saint Mary's Hall until 2008, in the upper school. I saw many kids come in from various middle schools, and I have to say I was always impressed with students from

St. George Episcopal School
6900 West Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78213

They were well prepared for the rigors of honors and AP courses at SMH, they were polite and well-adjusted.

I second St. George. My kids went there while we lived in SA and loved it and were way above the curve when we moved to the Austin area. Its only k-8th.

How is your view of SMH? If my child went there k-12 would she be prepared well for college vs if she was in public school?
I am skeptical of private schools because I went to one for part of high school. When I transferred to public school, I was definitely behind.
I want to put our daughter in K-12 private school, but want to rest assured they will challenge her to her ability.

She wouldn't be behind if graduating from SMH; she'd be way ahead. As a matter of fact, when we had students come in from public school to SMH they were behind and needed a lot of help just to stay afloat. SMH students end up at great universities all over the country. There's really no concern there at all. SMH has something for every talent in academics and fine arts. If your daughter leans more toward academics, I would also highly recommend Keystone. I haven't taught there, but I've always heard great comments about Keystone both from parents and from friends of mine who teach there.

Most exceptional kids come from ordinary schools with involved parents. The school only provides a place for a child to learn but it does no good without support from the home. Instead of working harder to make more money to afford those private schools put that effort into spending more time with your children, it will payoff many time over.

You are preaching to the choir- I am a teacher. Public schools are not cutting it anymore. While in school, my child will be looked over because yet another stringent test is coming out next year for Texas where teachers will need to spend even more time with lower achieving children vs. mine.
