What was the point?!?!? All that work and money and I was thinking it would be 3 lanes each way. Now that they've "finished" it's still 2 lanes each way!!! There is plenty of room (so it appears) for 3 lanes, but they kept it at 2. It just doesn't make sense.

I agree totally!! I thought they would be expanding to help ease congestion...and what did they do? Put grass in?? REALLY??!!??? I say that again...REALLY??!!!??? I agree that it seems like a HUGE waste of taxpayer money.

They raised the overpass at Camp Bullis, created an overpass at Dominion, and converted the access roads to one-way.

After-work rush hour traffic is much improved, mostly due to the Camp Bullis exit-entrance cutters now re-merging back in at the Dominion exit, rather than right after it goes from 3 to 2 lanes (two bottlenecks in close proximity).

My morning commute (from Stonewall Estates, west side of I-10 near Friedrich Park) is much faster now too, since I can enter the highway without waiting for the Camp Bullis light. It used to be one lane to that light, and a good 10 minute wait each morning.

That being said, I was surprised when I learned they weren't moving it to three lanes. TxHwyMan (former poster with excellent insight into TxDot's plans and operations) mentioned the overpasses were built to accomodate a future 3 lanes, but I don't know why they didn't do three right away, at least up to Boerne Stage Rd. My guess here is the same guess I always have: budgetary constraints.

Also added turnarounds at Camp Bullis that were needed very badly so you don't have to wait at the light.

the whole point of the expansion was to make the people who live at the dominion happy

Are the people that are saying "the only reason this was done was to make the people at the Dominion happy" living near the Dominion or are you saying it to spite those residents? Because there are plenty of good people living in Crown Ridge and other neighboring areas that benefit from the changes. Also, those of you that shop at the Rim may use the turn around at Camp Bullis. I sure wish they'd make a turn around near Leon Springs...now that is needed badly.
