anyone know of a good product to remove really thick stubborn tar from mud guards??

hubby took the car to his work site where they're building a new rd, and now my mud guard is full of thick sticky tar, high pressure hosing in the car wash didn't help and I really want to remove it.

I googled Tarminator not sure if it's worth it though?? I see it works on car paint not sure on mud guards......any car detail enthusiasts on here for advice?

GoJo will remove it - takes a bit of time.

So will diesel fuel - lots cheaper....<G>

GooGone will do the job, also....

Paint Thinner will do it as well.

Zippo Lighter Fluid ( think it is also marketed as Goo B Gone).

Simple Green full strength, let it soak and then scrub.

Used to work on a road crew when I was young. Asphalt was all over us at the end of the day. We used Vaseline or cheap oil hair tonic to get it off of our bodies.

Peanut butter gets tar off of people...not sure if it will remove it from a car though.

When I was a kid and we went to the beach a lot, sometimes there would be lots of tar and we'd step in it by accident. Mom kept a jar of peanut butter and some paper towels in the car to clean us up. One year it was so bad that the hotel we were staying at actually provided tar removal wipes. They didn't work as well as the peanut butter.
