I am so ready for new shops restaurants in the area around the Rim & La Cantera areas. Any news out there what's going up next? One of these days the Steak & Shake will open near the 10 & 1604 area. Still have the sign up for future development. The Rim has a large area that is being fixed for future growth. Just wander what's on the horizon. La Cantera is still in phases in terms of growth. Lot's of land undeveloped around the area makes me wonder.

Can't some of it just stay undeveloped?

What for? It's not like it is wooded or usable area, particularly at the Rim. It's just barren space that looks pretty bad. Perhaps you are referring to the broader 1604/I10 area?

Yeah, i was referring to the broader 1604/I-10 area however most of where the rim sits today used to be "wooded" as well.

It is pretty much just abandoned rock quarry like the area La Cantera and Fiesta Texas were in prior to development.

I would rather have something usable that just an abandoned rock quarry to look at.

Actually it didn't. It was a lime quarry then an abandoned lime/rock quarry for many years before the Rim took over. Yes, before the quarry, it was wooded but it what I'm saying is, it was a quarry for decades and decades before it was the Rim as we know today.

Yes, I know it was a quarry for awhile before the Rim.

I posted elsewhere that the center of the Rim that was to be a hotel has its signs painted out. Someone in the know might tell us if that project is being dropped. They are building condos in the back - to appeal to Mexican nationals to use when shopping here, according to that thread.

More fast food and chains, I expect.

Heard an intersting radio comment. People get all excited about a new center that has the same old chains. Except for Bass Pro and a couple of different restaurants - it's the same old center.

It's convenient for me but most of the stores you can find all along the loops.
