I find it amusing that two chain fast food joints can create this much chatter.

Good for them: They're doing something right if they can generate this much buzz even before opening a single location in the area. While I don't eat much of this stuff, I'm sure they'll do well in this city.

Supposedly Del Taco is already in the works in SA, and Houston. If you look for franchise opportunities through their website there are NO MORE franchise opportunities available meaning they are already taken. Del Taco wants to build 85 locations in Texas and this will happen. IN & OUT is gradually spreading out. The meat plant in Ft. Worth will fuel their TEXAS growth. Dallas just happened to be their first stop. Houston next San Antonio to follow.

DelTaco is gross!!! Surely it can't compete with the likes of Mama Margies, Las Palapas or any corner taqueria.

Del Taco competes with Taco Bell in my mind...There aren't too many fast food Mexican places in California...That's probably why Del Taco does well there. Here in SA we have too much competition. We will have to wait and see. However Del Taco does offer menu items you won't see at Mama Margies or Taco Cabana. Burritos are an item that I don't think that Taco Cabana/MM offer.

They offer pretty much the same menu as taco bell with maybe a little better quality, now they serve burgers and fries. Those I think are very underrated imo.

Now in and out is good, now earlier I said its better than whataburger. I would say WB is a tad better (Had it for lunch), but if someone from CA came to SA of course they would say in and out was better.

I went to an In&Out place in Southern California a couple of years ago. Burgers were good, but honestly, I like hamburgers at restaurants better...thought more expensive.

BTW: Had a McDonald's Big Mac (nothing big about it!) today in Kerville. One of the worst burgers I've had in a long time.

2nd BTW: What happened to the KFC on Hwy 16 in Kerville? It is closed now.

Smile In & Out Burger heading to Round Rock/Austin first before SA

In-N-Out Burger on its way to Round Rock | kvue.com Austin

In & Out is looking for land in Round Rock to build their first Central Texas location. Zoning/planning is taking place and expected opening should be next year. It's a matter of a short time after that SA will be next. Makes clear sense how IN & OUT is heading down 35 logistically. Can't wait!!!

Why are we so excited about ANOTHER FAST food joint??? Those gross, unhealthy, fattening joints serving breaded, deep fried, highly processed food of questionable ingredients, and poorest nutritional quality will come in shares to our city because obviously that's what we want. That's what we are excited about and continue asking: are they there yet??
This city is saturated with fast food, taco places, cheap Mexican food, pizza parlors and mediocre Chinese take-outs. Here are so little choices to eat something else in a fast pace, or take out.
Why don't we ask for a good soup place, or healthy salad bistro, or places where we can get real fruit juice or fruit cup??
If we really want more fast food chains why not Au Bon Pain, Corner Bakery and Café, Lyfe kitchen or such?
