Those numbers estimated the illegal immigrant population to be between 8-12 million and increasing by 700,000 a year. Here we are, 11 years later, and that same 8-12 million number is being used for their estimates, neglecting the estimated increase of 700,000 per year which would put the current illegal immigrant population at 16-20 million.

That is another PERSPECTIVE. I could call it a fact and the truth but since NOBODY knows for certain, I will just call it a perspective.

So, in doing a little more research, I found the only difference between a Sanctuary City and a non-Sanctuary city is a formal policy declaring that local authorities will not engage immigration authorities upon suspicion of illegal immigration status. San Antonio is absolutely considered an "Unofficial Sanctuary City" and has several advocates working to make it formal. Regardless of the lack of a formal status, it is well known that local authorities do nothing to determine the legal status of citizens nor does the city of San Antonio deport those known to be living here illegally.

So, is it a fact that San Antonio is not a formal Sanctuary City? Yes. Is it a fact that San Antonio is known to be an Unofficial Sanctuary City? Yes. Are there a large number of illegal immigrants living in San Antonio and the local government does nothing about it? Yes. Which facts you chose to use are simply your perspective.

So, back to perspectives. Of course, if you are trying to make an argument that San Antonio is less hispanic than it is, you would cite metro numbers to include New Braunfels, Boerne, Schertz, Seguin, Cibolo and Canyon Lake because there are more white people there to skew the numbers to your perspective. Another PERSPECTIVE is the numbers for the city of San Antonio and not the greater metro area. Those numbers show the reported estimate to have a much higher hispanic population, by percentage. Personally, I've never considered the lily white cities of Boerne or New Braunfels to be a part of San Antonio - Schertz and Cibolo, maybe. Again, that is just one perspective.

The point is, it isn't really fair to demonstrate a perspective as a contradiction of another perspective and call one a fact and the other not a fact. Both are facts but from different perspectives.
Simply stating you were wrong in some instances would have said you some time. But no, instead of swallowing pride you decide to argue perspective to make yourself not look wrong. I get it, but it's still very annoying.

Anyway, illegal immigrants are everywhere in this country and in every major or small city. San Antonio's stance is no different than Denver or Columbus or Boston or New York or Orlando or Portland or Sacramento or Detroit or Philadelphia or Bosie or Tuscalusa. Whether official or not official, illegal immigrants pretty much hide in plan sight across this country.

And labeling San Antonio a "Hispanic City" hasn't even been in any of my posts so far, so no, I'm not arguing it. San Antonio is a city. A city with white, black, Asian, Native American, Hispanic and other types of people living in it.

I'm not the type of person who has to classify everything by a race or ethnicity.

Are you arguing that there is an equal percentage of illegal immigrants in the cities you mentioned to the percentage that reside in San Antonio? I don't think anyone would dispute that illegal immigrants are everywhere but even you have to admit that San Antonio has a disproportionate percentage?

and, where exactly was I wrong? Point it out and I will gladly swallow my pride and admit it.

Where did I even make the case for equal or same percentages? You seem to have a problem with misinterpretation what i write or just make up from thin air something I didn't say.

I don't know what the percentages are for San Antonio no any other city or metro area. However, what would be a proportionate percentage and what would be a proportionate percentage? I would think any answer would be subjective and would thus negate any real argument.

Knowing the workings of illegal immigration in a manner you and many others are not familiar with in the least, you'd be wrong in thinking because of the nose proximity of San Antonio to the Mexican border that SA would have a high percentages or amount of illegal immigrants. Many may pass through San Antonio, but they're on their way to Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Georgia, California, Utah, etc.

Most Hispanics in San Antonio are native born. We have a low proportion of Hispanic immigrants in comparison to cities like Dallas and Houston.

Please move on, or post on Politics Forum.
This is not the topic of this thread.

BTW: here is some statistic:

This topic was also mentioned here. Feel free to continue your debate on this thread.
Does the City of San Antonio, Texas have fewer undocumented workers compared to Dallas or Houston?

I happen to stumble across this thread. I have lived San Antonio since January. I came from Austin which I lived 6 months.

Let me preface this that I am not the most social able person on the planet. I have made an effort to be more social over the years.

I play soccer, kickball, tennis, and have taken Japanese class and look for other things. I feel that I've put good effort to find friends to hang out. I'very had some success but not much.

I concluded in August that I want to go back to Austin. I only left because I lost my job. San Antonio just isn't for me. The people here are not very talkative. All attempts to start a conversation tends to be one sided. I tried to get people together but to no avail. I tend to feel that I'm left out rather than apart of the group. I know I'm shy but I will make an effort and not get reciprocated. I ask people what they do for fun and people very rarely tell me anything. It's strange. In Austin I had a neighbor walk up to me to start a conversation. Here I can barely get my neighbors to talk. I knock on the door for help and nobody answers. I am depressed and feel lonely. I only met a couple people I enjoy but hanging out with them is somewhat pedestrian. I can tell from other transplants that this place is not for me.

I've applied for jobs in Austin and hope to find one by next year.

I know some San Antonians don't like hearing it and that's understandable. People come to different towns for various reasons. Don't get angry please. I know people who hate Austin. Not every town is meant for everyone. Just go find the place that makes you happy.

Also I'm 31 and single.

That's what I hate about San Antonio...very circle-the-wagons. Everyone in San Antonio comes in pairs like Noah's Ark or in already established families and no one wants to talk about anything but their spouse and kids. I was like you, living in San Antonio and couldn't find friends until I graduated and got a job in Austin just a few months ago.

I love the food in San Antonio. I miss the creature comfort foods like barbacoa and big red on Sunday. I love the party atmosphere like Fiesta and I love the overall SA vibe. I know not everyone appreciates the tacos and beer life, but I do. Ha.

I don't like the overall lack of being informed. I'm generalizing, but it does seem that people in SA are perhaps not as informed or knowledgeable of things outside of SA and that seems to bleed into the lack of open mindedness.

Overall I love my hometown and I miss it everyday...

The problem is not San Antonio related. It's a "you" problem. I relocated here from work from the northeast and never had a problem making friends because I WANTED to make it work. I also happen to like, Austin, too. I can go there anytime I want. However, if you're already determined to be homesick, it will never work.
