Bright yellow mushrooms attack! (organic, eat, Walmart)

So, we had to put in new sod because of the drought. Whoopee.

So I water by hand almost everyday and use the sprinkler on my SAWS day.

Now, in some of the interstices between the patches, bright yellow mushrooms are sprouting happily. Looks like the Smurfs moved in.

I have seen these mushrooms before. They appeared in our potted plants over the years and I assume either the plants we bought or the potting soil had the spores. They have obviously migrated to the lawn.

I know the body of mushrooms is under ground and we just see the fruiting part as a mushroom. Anyway to nuke these without hurting the lawn or just wait till they pass.

Anyone know the type.

NO - I will not eat them. I do have some knowledge of such poisons and will pass on that.

Sounds like a sign of good healthy organic soil. I'd leave 'em alone, if I were you. They won't take over the lawn, like weeds. It's too hot and dry here for that.

I get the white ones with tan markings from time to time. I found one on my lawn one morning and it must have been four inches in diameter. They must grow really fast because it wasn't there the day before (I think). I took some pictures of it but Walmart lost my prints. Never seen yellow ones. I have tried growing edible ones for salads and cooking but never have any luck.
