We were consistently highly ranked throughout the recession. Austin has stayed consistently toward the top, but Dallas and Houston have surpassed us. New Geography ranked us #99 for job growth while Fort Worth, Austin, Dallas, and Houston are in the Forbes top 12.

All Cities Rankings - 2012 Best Cities for Job Growth | Newgeography.com

Methodology - Joel Kotkin - Forbes

I knew I should have moved to Austin instead of signing a one-year lease here.

We didn't even make the 2012 list for most affordable cities.

Businesses want to be diverse. Options to change and grow.

San Antonio is the total opposite of that.

San Antonio can be summed up with this.

Change = bad

Besides, no San Antonio locals care about job growth.

It's all about Spurs basketball, Fiesta, Beer and Cowboys football.

Jesus, why do people put so much stock into these lists or at the very least cherry pick them.

Anyway, the list the OP posted included medium sized markets a long with large markets. Odessa was ranked number one. Maybe the OP should have moved there.

Here's the list for large markets. SA ranks 20th.

But even that ranking I find suspect.

But whatever, people who depend on these lists and see them as infallible, well, keep on keeping on.

First off, I can't tell you how incredibly wrong you are on so many levels.

But hey, by your sound "logic", Odessa is the most diverse and progressive place in the nation.

P.S.

You couldn't generalize any more?

I see you chose to focus on the New Geography list, but not the Forbes list. Either way, San Antonio has fallen from being the #1 city for job growth and Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth are still ahead of us. I'm sorry that you don't like seeing anything negative about San Antonio. I choose to live in reality. I'm sure if someone posted a list putting SA in a positive light, you would be busy tooting our horn. Studies conducted using the scientific method are much more reliable than anecdotal evidence.

First off, I'm sorry you think these list put San Antonio in a negative light. They don't.

I'm also sorry you believe you need a Internet list to tell you whether or not San Antonio is an affordable place. That is comedy on a level of unfortunate if I've ever seen it.

I have no problem with reality, it shows me that SA is affordable. It also shows me that SA's job growth isn't defined by newsgeography. You understand the irony of telling me you live in reality by basing your entire perspective on virtual lists.

P.S.

I'm sorry I threw in rational sense and logic into your agenda filled thread.

So you've collected data on SA's job growth? Please tell me where you have published your work. I did not say SA was not affordable. It's just not listed as being as affordable as several other major cities in Texas when considering income. Maybe you should have thrown some reading comprehension into this thread.

If a list said the sky was now green, I'm fairly confident you'd believe it until you then went outside (by force?) and looked up.

Your "reality" is pretty funny.

Should we expect a "Why is San Antonio no longer considered a northern hemisphere city?" with a post linking to a new newgeography list?

I get it, make a thread asking a question then post a an already concluded diatribe. Those are the best posts. /sarcasm.

But I fail for the bait, shame on me.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, which was used by New Geography and Forbes, is a lot more trustworthy than your hunches. Sorry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics posts its methods on the internet for everyone to read. If you think the BLS has some conspiracy going on against SA based on your instincts, then you are free to conduct your on study and prove them wrong. Did I answer my own question? I don't remember doing that. I'm still waiting for a serious poster.

That's great. How does that change the fact that you and others put so much stock into these lists. If you honestly think a person is better off in OKC jobs wise than San Antonio because a list told you so, then keep on keeping on.

The question is, who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself?
