Well, it is the west side any way you slice it. You get what you pay for. Cheap housing on the dangerous side of town will yield these results.

Sad fact is, crime is everywhere. Often the lowlife scum travels somewhere other than where they are from to commit their crimes. I used to live in Gold Canyon, off of 281 and 1604....nice neighborhood. Had my truck window broken and stereo stolen within 2 weeks of moving in. The officer that took my report told us that often these dirtbags will all pile in a van and come to the more affluent neighborhoods, drop everyone off and meet up again at a predetermined time and place...with everything they have stolen.

I can still remember years ago whenever a murder took place in SA, it was front page news until the crime was solved....now it's a normal everyday occurance tucked away on page 4 with barely a mention of it.

I blame some of it on the idiots that would give people a loan for a house, knowing they can't afford it.....no money down, credit doesn't have to be that great, etc etc. And don't get me started on section 8 housing.

Bottom line is...money doesn't buy you class.

Too close for comfort? Does that mean too close to home? If so what of those who live or work in the immediate area and call it home?

Threads like this might end up into neighborhood comparisons of the worst kind because from the start with a phrase like 'too close for comfort' might sound to others as in I am in this neighborhood but that neighborhood over there has undesirable traits. From the very first post it is setup to basically scream, "my neighborhood is better than yours".

I used to work really close to Micron and Potranco but I always felt very, very safe, lol. Getting closer to Ingram though even if just down the block is more dicey. The Hollows for instance have their cheapest apartment priced at under $500 and their most expensive at just over $800.

Crime is inevitable in such an area but usually in violent crimes it is criminals targeting other criminals. There really is no need to stress or be worried over this. All else that can be generated here is to talk bad about the criminal, which is OK, but then it inevitably leads to talking bad about half of San Antonio while some of the posters here are from that half.
