About to rent a home in this area with my family. Two kids, one 7 and the other 15.

Is this a safe area?

Trulia crime maps seem to list it as a safe neighborhood, and greatschools list schools as 7&8, so I assume it's fairly safe.

Do you guys have any experience with this area?

That area is just fine, you'll like it. I live a few miles down 1604 and my area is a tiny bit rougher, but all that really means for us is that we see some graffiti on mailboxes and stuff like that.

When we moved to NISD, I was disappointed in how often the kids had PE (every other day, not every day like I was used to) and how infrequently they had art and computer classes (I think it's once every two weeks) but otherwise NISD seems fine.

I agree, Westcreek is just fine. I've seen people talk bad about it on here, but I drive through there often (I'm in Gordon's Grove). Our kids have friends there; seems to be lots of military, neat yards, etc. Roads are being re-paved and the bridge widened. They sure seem to have lots of sports, activities, classes which I wish we had to encourage more of a neighborhood feel.

Perfectly safe. Been here since 2007 and never felt anything but safe.

with that said.....stats will show you crime is everywhere and there is no neighborhood that is immune. The schools are great too!

Yes, it's safe. I go walking throughout the neighborhood sometimes early in the morning or at night. I've had no problems.

Owned and lived there between assignments overseas from 1994 until 2009.

A wonderful neighborhood I would recommend for sure. Lots of military, lots of conveniences, and you will see people walking both in the early morning and evening...the ONLY reason we moved from there was for a smaller home (kiddos all grown) in an age restricted community just down the road.

People are safe. However, cars parked in the street can be targets for thieves, especially if something valuable is in plain sight.
